The protagonist is a Japanese national and the founder and Chairman of Satura Cakes. He is based in Honolulu, HI and his president is based in Palo Alto, CA. Together, they encounter several management challenges in the first 3 years of operating their growing chain of cake shops in the U.S., including: a belligerent executive, a fire at the company's HQ (which is also a retail location), and a high-performing manager who may sue the company on the grounds of mental anguish as a result of the fire.
